Karla D. Witzke, D.O Karla D. Witzke, D.O.

Urologist Karla Witzke, D.O., of Tri City Urology in Midland, was drawn to urology because she is a compassionate, caring surgeon who is concerned about patients with urologic problems. Some of these problems include: urologic cancers, urinary incontinence, difficulty urinating, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, BPH, kidney stones, and pelvic pain in men and women.

Dr. Witzke received her degree from Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lansing. She completed her general surgery and urology residencies at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center's Michigan State University College of Medicine Statewide Consortium in Mt. Clemens.

She has a special interest in female urology. This is a progressive field which encompasses leakage (urinary incontinence), pelvic organ prolapse, and sexual dysfunction (loss of desire/libido, or pain with intercourse). There are both nonsurgical and surgical treatments for these disorders. Dr. Witzke also treats patients with prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular and adrenal cancers. If surgery is necessary, she uses laparoscopic surgery when possible and utilizes the da Vinci Surgical System, a state-of-the-art, minimally invasive computer-assisted robot. She also offers cryoablation for prostate and kidney cancers as an alternative treatment for patients.

Dr. Witzke moved to Midland from southeastern Michigan after rotating here during her residency. "The people in the community drew me to the area. They are very friendly and welcoming," she said, adding that MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland was a draw for her with the expansion, progressive nature, and friendly staff.Dr. Witzke and her husband have two sons, 10 months and 2 ½ years old. After a long day in surgery or at the Medical Center, her primary extracurricular activity is spending time with her family. She also enjoys exercising and competing in triathlons.
